Entire problem set due tomorrow (12/4): Mixture Problems
Welcome to our Multi-Day Activity!
Description and Requirements
In this individual activity, you will be solving three system of equations problems using multiple methods.
The assignment is to choose one easy problem and one medium problem from the list of system of equation letters. In addition, you must solve the mandatory problem below. For each problem:
- Solve using a graph
- Solve using substitution
- Solve using elimination
- Present your solution in a mini-booklet or set of stapled papers. The work may be neatly hand-written or typed.
We will be working on this activity in class until Friday (11/30). The due date is Monday (12/3), so anything you don’t finish in class will be homework for the weekend.
*If you are having trouble reading the problem, save and open the image as a separate file.
722: Homework (Due Monday, December 3)
- August 2018 – Question 37
- August 2018 – Question 9
- August 2017 – Question 37
- January 2017 – Question 25
- January 2017 – Question 34
If you finish everything you need to work on and still have time in class, I strongly urge you to solve one last (or two last) problem(s) using this new, more challenging list of system of equation letters.
Tomorrow (11/28) is your quiz on systems of equations. I mentioned that the best way to study was to review the classwork/homework problems from the past several classes. To make this more focused, I’ve included a PDF of the specific problems you should focus on and master in preparation for your quiz. Good luck!
Below is a video (and follow-up activity) that I created for my 8th graders last year. Your HW tonight is to watch the video and try your best to complete the follow-up activity that appears at the end. The purpose is to develop the third and final method for solving “systems of equations”: solving systems by elimination.
For reference, here are the videos I made for solving systems by graphing and solving systems by substitution. This may be a nice way to re-learn the material if you feel you’ve missed something over the past few classes. This is not required homework (but you should do it anyway).
Class 722 and 723 did an amazing job on their Q1 projects. Overall, the quality, creativity, and thoughtfulness of the projects were some of the best that I or any other math teacher has ever seen. Keep up the good work!
That said, here’s round two! Due December 5th: Q2 Project
I have also attached the “Lines of Turkey” assignment for those who are required to complete it: Lines of Turkey
HW due tomorrow (11/20): Modeling Systems of Equations
Be sure to complete the review and extend!

Below are the answer keys for the system of equations classwork. Reviewing and understanding all the work is part of your “homework” for the upcoming week, as the next quiz/test will rely, in part, on this classwork.
